Next, we had an engaging discussion with our panelists Jennifer L., Paris Z., and Jennie Johnson, moderated by our Chief Editor Christina Lin. Our speakers candidly shared about their journeys and struggles as expat women. With a wealth of experience living and working abroad, the common themes of #SupportSystems, #belonging, and intentional #networking were discussed.
Paris inspired us to be proactive in building communities and support systems, whether through our workplace networks or personal life and interests. How amazing is it that her side hustle, Palette Puzzles, empowers and brings together female artists!
Touching on the buzzword of belonging, Jennie reminded the audience that while belonging can feel very powerful when it happens, you create a lot more opportunities for growth when you feel uncomfortable and perhaps don’t belong.
Jennifer’s takeaways included “Marie Kondo-ing” our networks, mapping out the people we have in our lives, and remembering that even loose connections can be important.
Thank you to everyone who attended our Singapore Social Hours. We can’t wait to welcome you again in September.
